About Sanstha
Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, is one of the largest educational institutions in the Asia. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil founded Rayat Shikshan Sanstha in 1919 with a noble objective of bringing the socially and economically backward class in the mainstream by means of education. Government of India conferred on him "Padmabhushan Award" for his enormous contribution in the field of education. Presently the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha has been conducting a total of 751 branches including 42 collages, 441 secondary schools, 7 training collages, 52 primary schools (English medium-24), 42 pre-primary schools (English medium-28), 91 hostels, 7 administrative offices, 8 Ashramshalas, 3 I.T.I., 52 ancillary branches and 1 research institute.
ORGANISING INSTITUTES
Our institute Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara (YCIS) is an autonomous institute belongs to Rayat Shikshan Sanstha is reaccredited with A+ grade (CGPA 3.57) by NAAC, Banglore. It has also received the status of College with Potential for Excellence from UGC, Star College Scheme by Department of Biotechnology, FIST by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi, Best College Award for NSS Unit by Govt. of Maharashtra and Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Academic Excellence Award by Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Best College Award by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara. Institute has got RUSA excellence tag along with financial assistance under RUSA Component 8. YCIS will be lead collage in the recently approved Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil University, Satara by Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. The institute offers UG, PG, M. Phil, and Ph.D. programs in Basic Sciences and Professional Courses under one roof. Research facilities, infrastructure and various facilities for students, scholarships, etc. creates academic and research culture to develop the competent citizens. Recently, institute has established Centre for Invention, Innovation and Incubation with support from RUSA, TATA Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Singapore and Science and Technology Park, Pune. Currently 3761 UG students, 442 PG students from Kerala to Jammu-Kashmir and 78 research scholars for Ph.D. programs are pursuing their education.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Department of Statistics:The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1965, offering two major courses B.Sc in Statistics and M.Sc. in Statistics. Apart from degree programme in Statistics department also offers diploma, advanced diploma, skill, value added, capsule and add on courses in various Statistical Software’s. The thrust areas of research in the department are Operation Research Supply Chain, Inventory control Statistical Process control, Biostatistics, and Modelling etc. We are offering the trending papers like Clinical Trials, Actuarial Statistics and Population study to post graduate students which leads our students in global market. The department having computer laboratory with high configuration computer lab and digital class rooms to fulfil the student’s need of advance education.
Department of Mathematics:The department of Mathematics was established in the year 1965. Department has B. Sc. Mathematics and M.Sc. Mathematics courses. In addition with regular courses department offers diploma, advanced diploma, skill, value added, capsule and add on courses for focusing employability of stakeholders. The Department of Mathematics has all qualified and experienced faculties. The department has well equipped computer laboratory. The department regularly organizes varies activities for the upliftment of students and staff.
Department of Computer Sciences:Department of Computer Science is the leading department in Yashavantrao Chavan Institute of Science (Satara) established in 2003, is the biggest of its kind in the Shivaji University, Kolhapur imparting knowledge of Computer Science at U.G and P.G level. All faculty members strive hard to cultivate academic activities like seminars, projects, and lecture series of renowned expertise. Some of the faculty are actively engaged in research work. The glory of the department is reflected in merit list of college. The alumni of department are holding responsible positions in prestigious fields.
